Many say music is a universal language that unites all walks of life. That sentiment could not be more poignant with music festivals. From Woodstock's revolutionary event in 1969 to the 21st Century phenomenon of Glastonbury, the festival industry has evolved rapidly on a global scale and has had a significant impact on society. Today, festival-goers are beginning to reflect on their lifestyle and become more politically and socially aware. As a result, music festivals are no longer just about the music but the experience as a whole.

This project was for those who are interested in live music, creating a brand identity, scouting musical talent and running events; a great opportunity to enhance graphic design industry skills and music industry knowledge.

Project Outcome

Festivals of the Future is about developing a concept for the students' very own local music festival. Using the components of their festival identity, the stduents had to first design their brand logo. Then scout for talent to develop a line-up poster, followed by a festival map with all of the key activities included in an event.

A huge congratulations goes out to Niamh Dixon and Lola Jackson from Whitley Bay High School on the success of their festival concepts and ideas.
