Hello…my name is Mark Pattinson, I’ve been the TICE Graphics Mentor from the very beginning…..2007 to be precise.

I work at Tommee Tippee, which is a global mum and baby brand. I’m a Global Senior Graphic Designer, which means my role allows me to work across many creative areas, including Packaging design, Decoration/illustration, Point of Sale, 3D product design, Photoshoots (art directing), retail displays and more.

I’ve been a professional graphic designer for over 15 years, spending 2 years at Futurebrand in London after winning a Futurebrand talent award. I’ve worked on some of the biggest brands from around the globe, including; British Airways, Hugo Boss, Barclays Bank, UPS, Levis, Mastercard, Virgin Atlantic, Pantene and Nestle just to name a few.

My aim as a TICE mentor is to give students the understanding and opportunity to experience this AMAZING creative career pathway they could possibly take. Presenting students with a good insight into the wider industry areas is key. Discussions will cover a range of topics, including educational routes, career pathways, software skill building, conceptual thinking, creative layouts and presentation skills.

Being a TICE mentor allows me to bring education and industry closer together. Allowing students to meet and chat with industry professional designers is a great opportunity for students to experience what it’s like in the ‘real world’ of graphic design. Throughout each stage, students are continuously encouraged to become more and more creative, they are also challenged in why they have made specific creative decisions. Bringing a sense of ‘real world’ to the classroom engages and encourages students to really push themselves outside of their comfort zone. Whilst giving advice and supporting, the results are truly astonishing.

The graphics program embeds core subjects across Maths and English, students complete the program with a sense of accomplishment, having a greater understanding of the industry, building on a range of new skill sets, but not just technical…in self-expression and confidence. As I always tell my students at the end of every workshop…’love what you do’ and embrace the 3 P’s mindset in everything you do…passion, passion and more passion.
