Ladders is a free programme helping young people in the North East aged 17-24 with an interest in the creative and digital industries. Sound like you? Then you’re in the right place.

We want to help you boost your creative and digital skills, offer enterprise support and help you get a job or build a business idea, in an industry you love. There’ll be creative courses where you can gain industry knowledge and experience in music, film and software development. We offer a business start-up package and/or employability support. We can also offer pastoral care and advice too. There’s a full range of creative and digital industry support to help you on your way…Places are free but limited!

Getting started…
We need a few details to check that you’re eligible. Once you’ve filled in the Eventbrite listing (below), we’ll be in touch for a chat to get to know you a little more. Our next courses will begin in February 2019 and are part-time (approximately 5 hours per week).

Picking your course…
There are three creative/digital courses to choose from, so take your pick from Music, Film/TV or Software Development (i.e Coding, Games). Our courses are designed to develop sector knowledge, skills/talent and abilities of all participants using creative delivery to introduce individuals to an industry perspective in your preferred creative area.

The courses will include skills development workshops, masterclasses and guest speakers who will take you through their specialisms to give you a first-hand account of what a career in their field can offer you. There will also be days dedicated to tours of major creative and digital businesses in the region, giving you a behind-the-scenes and exclusive insight into the inner workings of venues, studios, agencies, stores and other creative and digital enterprises.

There’ll also be employability sessions to help you develop key skills to prepare you for the workplace. An option to develop business ideas through an enterprise support package and if you’d like any extra advice or guidance on things like confidence building or CV writing, you can sign up for this too.

Travel and Bursaries
Ladders is designed to be as accessible as possible and we don’t want you to be out of pocket, so travel bursaries are available for all sessions (North East only). We also encourage you to look for any relevant events out there and we’ll pay for your ticket or transport. You must keep receipts though, or we can’t reimburse you.

And even better, if you achieve 85% attendance over the Ladders course, you will be eligible to apply for a bursary of up to £500 for use on equipment, training, or anything else to help you on your way.

How does it work?
There are 3 short courses to choose from and the option to choose employability sessions and enterprise support which will comprise of workshops and masterclasses filled with exciting speakers, enterprise development sessions and industry specialists to support your business or career development.

What’s the outcome?
You’ll be more employable. You’ll have new skills, and a new found confidence, as well as proof of your achievements in the form of an online portfolio. Potentially even a business idea you are ready to pursue!
