I have been working as a designer and maker for 10 years since completing my degree in Textile Crafts in 2005. During this time I have worked in many different areas of this creative industry which has given me the chance to try my hand at many different job roles. These include working on step by step projects for textile and sewing magazines, delivering workshops in department stores such as Fenwick and Liberty of London, crafts shops, art galleries and high profile exhibitions such as The Knitting and Stitching Show. I was even lucky enough to land a job working as a craft instructor on board P&O cruise ships and enjoyed working holidays to the Canaries, Norwegian Fjords and even the Caribbean Islands.

One of my biggest achievements was becoming a published author of six textile craft books, my titles include Stitch and Sparkle, Handmade Glamping and Pimp Your Pumps. I’m also proud to say that I’ve successfully sold designs and supplied crafted items and kits to retailers such as Zara, Designers Guild and John Lewis.

For the past 6 years I have also worked in further education, teaching on the Btec Art and Design and NCFE Enterprise courses at Middlesbrough College as well as delivering community sewing classes in my local area. I became involved with the TICE programme almost 6 years ago when I sponsored a textile craft brief. Since then I have become a fashion and textile mentor for the programme and I absolutely love working with such talented and enthusiastic students.
